Q. What is Circular Economy in relation to waste Oil?

Systematic collection of used oil is organised in the market and it is supplied to refining companies for further processing. Advance technologies convert used/ waste oil into several useful products. A successful conversion from waste to wealth is called ‘circular economy’. We also save money on reduced waste oil disposal requirements.

Q. What is Environment Sustainability?

Proper disposal of used lubricating oil does not contaminate air, water and soil. A regular practice followed by all contributes to less degradation and environment sustainability. UN has defined the same as sustainable development goals.

Q. How used oil is collected in my town/ state/ country?

In INDIA, we are in the process of setting up proper COLLECTION CENTRES for used oil. EOSA with the support of various stakeholders is in the process of organising these on All India basis and the task will be completed as per plan.

Q. Is it a government or private company initiative?

EOSA is not for profit organization and is led by experienced professional from the oil industry. It is supported by oil companies and guided by Government policies.

Q. Am I becoming a more responsible citizen by handing over used oil generated by me or my business?

Yes it is very much desired to fulfill responsibility either as individual citizen or a business entity. At present it is voluntary and if implemented properly will give enormous benefits to the society.

Q. Is used lubricating oil falling in the category of hazardous waste?

Yes, used lubricating oil is classified as hazardous waste under CPCB guidelines due to the presence of contaminants and degradation of its properties. Proper handling, storage, and disposal are essential to prevent environmental and health risks.

Q. Who is authorized used oil collector?

EOSA in consultation with various stakeholders and market operating practices will appoint companies as authorized collector. As such used oil is going to be refined and appropriate auditing system for qualification will be followed.
